KFAI is built differently. There’s no algorithm deciding what you should hear next. No distant executive choosing which voices matter. There are your neighbors — showing up week after week to make extraordinary radio and share it with everyone. That’s what community-powered connection sounds like.

It sounds like a morning pop ballad on your way to work. A deep Ancestral Archive on the weekend. New music and public-interest news from around the world. A song you forgot you loved, played by someone who loves it enough to tell you why.

This Fall Membership Drive, we’re asking you to help keep KFAI strong, supported, and independent — doing the deep work of connecting people and communities throughout the Twin Cities without answering to corporate interests.

Your gift joins the support of listeners, volunteers, neighbors, music lovers, news seekers, and curious dial-turners who believe there should still be a place where people can gather around a microphone and reach an entire community. You & I make KFAI.

Together, we keep the studios lit, the transmitters humming, and the microphones open. We train new volunteers, welcome new voices, and keep independent community media broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

NEW THIS YEAR: As we approach KFAI’s 50th anniversary in 2028, our goal is to compile and present stories of KFAI’s past and present into an art book that follows the station through its first half century. You have the chance to directly support this effort with an optional $5 addition to your donation. All contributions will go toward production costs.
